The Spirit of Truth, the Counselor and the Promised Pastor

The Spirit of Truth, the Counselor and the Promised Pastor

Main reference: Jn 16:8-15, Jn 14:26

What is the relationship between the Spirit of truth, the Counselor and the promised pastor?

“Truth” is the word of God (Jn 17:17), the “holy spirit” refers to a spirit that is holy, “the Counselor” means a teacher who protects with grace, and “the promised pastor” is the pastor who is promised (prophesied) in advance before God’s promise is fulfilled.

As it is recorded, both the Spirit of truth and the promised pastor are entities that will appear in the future as Jesus prophesied. The promised pastor who speaks on behalf of Jesus is the one all the saints must meet at the appointed time.

Jesus, the promised pastor at the First Coming, was the Advocate who spoke on God’s behalf (1Jn 2:1, Advocate = Counselor). It was because God came to Jesus and became one with him that Jesus was the Counselor and the Advocate (Jn 1:32, Jn 10:30-39). This is why Jesus said, “I have come into the world as a light, and I have come in my Father’s name” (Jn 12:46, Jn 5:43).

Just as God spoke through Moses and not directly to the Israelites (Ex 20:18-21), so too did He come and speak through Jesus (Jn 14:24) who came according to the Old Testament (Isa 19:1). On this account, Jesus was the Counselor and Advocate who spoke on behalf of God.

Jesus asked God for another Counselor (Jn 14:16-17), so God sent the Spirit of truth. Because the Spirit of truth dwells in a person (Jn 14:17) and speaks through that person (promised pastor), the promised pastor becomes the Counselor and the Advocate. This is how God also dwelled within Jesus at the First Coming; Jesus spoke God’s Word on His behalf as the Counselor sent by God. Likewise, the promised pastor became the Counselor, the another Counselor sent by Jesus (Jn 14:16).

The Counselor, the Spirit of truth, came in the name of Jesus (Jn 14:26). Jesus came in the name of God (Jn 5:43), and John the Baptist came in the name of Elijah (Mt 11:10, 14; Lk 1:17). Jesus said that anyone who sees him has seen the Father (Jn 14:8-10). Is it wrong for the pastor who becomes one with the Spirit of truth, the Counselor, to call himself the Counselor? Isn’t this pastor together with the Spirit of truth? And together, aren’t they the teacher who protects with grace? Answer this. If not, then by this logic, Jesus whom God dwelled with cannot be the Counselor or the Advocate. The Spirit of truth who becomes one with the promised pastor and the pastor who speaks on behalf of Jesus are both Counselors.

As written in John 16:8-15, the Counselor teaches what he hears from Jesus. All that belongs to Jesus is from the Father. That is why, the pastor, the Counselor who comes in Jesus’ name, is not Jesus. He is simply the pastor who speaks of the things he receives from Jesus.

With no exception, every religious person (believer) must be led by the holy Spirit. If one is not led by the holy Spirit, then he remains as a mere flesh. The disciples who had been with Jesus for three years and had been taught by him were told to testify after they received the holy Spirit (Acts 1:4-8). That is why John the Baptist said that he baptized with water but after him, Jesus would baptize with the holy Spirit (Mt 3:11, Lk 3:16). Therefore, being together with the holy Spirit and not the evil spirit indicates that one is a believer of the New Testament. The holy Spirit of God, the Word from the beginning, is one in God, and we believers are one in God.

The promised pastor who becomes one with the Spirit of truth, the Counselor, is the teacher who protects the congregation with grace. He is the pastor who pours down much grace upon them. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of truth, the Counselor, in him, technically cannot be considered as a believer of God even if he claims to carry a life of faith. How can he have any connections with God if he does not have God’s spirit dwelling in him?

Believers led by the holy Spirit can work while having faith in the holy Spirit. In each era, God’s spirit worked with a promised pastor, so did Jesus and his disciples. As such, there is the promised pastor at the time of the fulfillment of Revelation. God, the kingdom of heaven, Jesus, and the spirits who died in Jesus come to the promised pastor (Rv 3:12). By overcoming, the promised pastor received the authority to judge (white stone), the food that gives eternal life (hidden manna), the iron scepter to rule over all the nations (Rv 2:17, 26-27). He also sits on the throne with God and Jesus (Rv 3:21). Jesus fed him the open book from heaven through an angel, saying, "You must prophesy again (Rv 10).” Therefore, this pastor is the true promised pastor. The New Testament speaks of these promises and tells us to believe in them. Do you believe this?

The time of Revelation, the end of the world, refers to the end of the traditional churches that have existed until now. At this time, there is no salvation for anyone who follows the pastors of their own churches, but those who believe the promised pastor and act according to his will can be saved. Whoever understands the meaning behind the Four Gospels and the book of Revelation will agree and say the same. We can believe in the New Testament (New Covenant) by understanding and realizing the meaning behind it. By understanding it we can believe. Believing is to know the identity of the three entities of Revelation—the betrayers, the destroyers, and the savior—and affiliating with the savior. Only when one belongs to the savior can he receive salvation.

As it is written in Revelation 3:12, coming to the one who overcomes who has the name of God, the name of the holy city the new Jerusalem, and the name of Jesus recorded on him is coming to the kingdom of heaven. It is coming to God and Jesus. Can you believe this? Those who believe will receive salvation.

Amen!
